CAPT 2010 Election

The 2010/2011 CAPT Board has openings for President-elect, Treasurer and six Members-at-large. The Call for Nominations to the Board closed on January 29, 2010. A total of 11 nominations were made: one for President-elect; one for Treasurer; and nine for Members-at-large. The positions for President-elect and Treasurer have been filled by acclamation.

Voting is open to active members of CAPT only.

Voting is closed.

The results of the election will be announced at the Annual General Meeting of the 2010 CAPT Annual Conference in Toronto, Ontario on March 29, 2010.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION FOR POPULATION THERAPEUTICS


CAPT 2010 Nominations Form

There are up to seven positions to be filled on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association for Population Therapeutics. The Board is asking for input from the past and present membership for nominations for the following positions.

President-elect
  • The term of office is one year as president-elect, one year as president, and one year as past-president (3 years)
  • Nominees should be drawn from one of our constituencies: (ie. academia, industry, government)
  • General responsibilities include attendance at two board meetings per year, generally held on a Saturday or Sunday, and periodic conference calls, as determined by the president
  • Be an ex-officio member of all committees and attend the Annual General Meeting during the annual conference and report as required
  • Responsibilities of the president include:
  • Leadership of the association (establishment and implementation of direction and activities in collaboration with the board and membership);
  • Management of the association in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Board;
  • Full effort to the fulfillment of the goals of the Association;
  • Chairing meetings of the General Assembly, the Board, and the Executive Committee;
  • Consulting with the Administrative Office regarding Annual General Meetings and meetings of the Board and Executive Committee
  • Ensuring that all policies and actions approved by the Members and the Board are properly implemented
  • Responsibilities of the past-president include: Chairing the nominations committee
  • Attending the Annual General Meeting during the annual conference and reporting as required
Treasurer
  • The term of office is two years
  • Nominees should be drawn from one of our constituencies: (ie. academia, industry, government)
  • General responsibilities include attendance at two board meetings per year, generally held on a Saturday or Sunday, periodic conference calls, as determined by the president
  • Responsible for managing and reporting on the finances of the organization
  • Chair of the Finance and Sponsorship Committees
  • Signing authority with the President over the Association accounts
  • Responsible for managing the finances of the Association and assuring compliance with legal and tax requirements at both the federal and provincial levels
  • Responsible for working with the auditors for the Association audits each year
  • Attending the Annual General Meeting during the annual conference and reporting as required
Members at large
  • Up to five positions will be vacated by outgoing board members
  • The term of service is two years
  • Nominees should represent one of our constituencies: (ie. academia, industry, government)
  • Responsibilities include attendance at two board meetings per year, generally held on a Saturday or Sunday in the Fall and during the annual conference, periodic conference calls, and leadership in one of the association's activities, as represented by standing or ad hoc committees
  • Attending the Annual General Meeting during the annual conference and reporting as required

GENERAL INFORMATION

Who May Stand for Election?
1. Must be a current member of CAPT or registered to attend the 2010 conference in Toronto, Ontario
2. Must be nominated by a member of CAPT
3. If elected, must agree to attend 2 Board Meetings per each year, one held in the late Fall/early Winter (for which all travel expenses are covered by CAPT), and one held in conjunction with the Annual Conference (for which you will be responsible to cover all travel expenses).

How Do You Nominate a Member?
1. Complete the attached nomination form


Nominations of candidates for the Board must include the following information:
  • Name, mailing address and e-mail address of the nominee
  • Verification that the nominee has accepted to stand for election
  • Position on the Board that they are being nominated to
  • A mini-bio and a few sentences outlining their interest in becoming a CAPT Board Member (maximum 250 words)
2. All nominations should be submitted by e-mail to Kris Schindel, Administrative Officer (kschindel@ihe.ca) or by fax (1-780-448-0018) or by mail to Canadian Association for Population Therapeutics, c/o Institute of Health Economics, #1200, 10405 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 3N4 and must be received by Friday, January 29th, 2010 at 11:59 pm MST.

What is the Voting Process?
If there are more nominated members than positions available, the list of nominated members, along with their supporting information, will be published on the CAPT website under "Elections". The mini-bio and 250 word statement on all nominees will be distributed to all CAPT Members by e-mail on February 12, 2010, 6 weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting. In addition, all CAPT members will receive an e-mail containing instructions for casting their ballots on-line through the CAPT website. Balloting will close on March 5th, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. MST, 3 weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting.

Candidates will be notified of the results of the election three weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting and announced publicly during the CAPT 2010 Annual General Meeting in Toronto, Ontario. Incoming incumbents will be required to attend the meeting of the Board during the 2010 Conference.
